<reviewbody>Over the course of a lifetime, being a child of the 50's and a hippie of the 60's... 2020 is a little too much.
I've been a fan of Film Noir and the OTR Detectives, so did all of their stories and a bunch from the late 50's too.
I knew of Damon Runyon of course, via Little Miss Marker, and Guys and Dolls, and thought the odd-lingo of the 'citizens' to be a little obvious and cloying.
WRONG!
The Damon Runyon Theatre is a great show. Really great. I can kvell up in the dark listening to these sometimes, and I'm 73 years old, and not even Jewish...but I did live off Broadway on Great Jones Street. OK. So I can relate.
It's as heart-warming as a can of sterno to a bum on the Bowery... so to speak. OK, maybe that's a little downtown for Broadway.
Just wanted to say, please do yourself a favor if you are lucky enough to get here, where you can enjoy free (as in gratis, citizen...) the tales that can take you to places up the block to bust a safe with the baby (fave show-09 Butch Minds the Baby). Or feel the cold of (17 Blonde Mink). Each story has something of a twist. (This page is for the entire show catalog - for single episodes to enjoy, or download, please go to the companion pages = single shows, as below or in search.)
Do yourself a favor. Bet on Damon Runyon. If you're looking to feel good and hear some of Broadway's best....
Step right up.
Thanks!</reviewbody>
